FLORA DE LA REGIÓN DEL PARQUE NACIONAL AMBORÓ, BOLIVIA

This book is the third in a series and the second to be published. This volume includes the sub-class Dilleniidae, con 152 genus and 321 species.

This publication will help teach about the importance of flora found in Amboró National Park, one of the most biodiverse national parks in the world, with over 3000 species of vascular plants, 1200 genus and 200 families.

The book contains 40 photographs and 153 drawings of flora species to facilitate the identification of species.

Likewise this publication attempts to present the vegetation classification system used in Amboró National Park.

Seventy-two Bolivian and foreign authors have contributed to this book.

It is a joint production between the Ministry of Rural, Agricultural and Environmental Development, the Vice Ministry of Biodiversity, Forest Resources and the Environment, the General Director of Biodiversity and Protected Areas, and the non-governmental organization Fundación Amigos de la Naturaleza (FAN):

It attempts to provide an updated idea of the status of knowledge on the country’s biodiversity as well as the efforts made and challenges facing conservation.

In this book you will find the following information:

  1. Bolivia is among the 15 countries with the greatest biological diversity on the planet.
  2. The sustainable use of biodiversity permit national development and reduce poverty.
  3. We have 23 different ecoregions
  4. Bolivia is one of the top ten countries in the world with the greatest plant diversity: it has approximately 20,000 different species.
  5. 42% of the country is in very poor to regular conservation status.
  6. 58% of Bolivia is in good to very good conservation status.
  7. Many of our plants and animals are unique in the world.
