The first part of this manual provides the foundation for basic wildlife research practice and management techniques. Later chapters begin to show ways to systematically collect quantitative data on individuals and populations. These techniques include measurement and preservation of animal specimens, tracks and signs, interviews and surveys, and wildlife censuses. Finally, some basic ecological concepts are presented along with very sophisticated techniques for long-term data collection and more detailed observation of species behavior.
